Daysake Privacy Policy

Version 1.0 (English) · Effective date: 2026-11-03 · Last updated: 2026-11-03

Daysake is a private notebook for parents. You write down a line about your child's day, and Daysake keeps it as a page with the date and your child's age at the time. This policy explains what information we handle, why, where it is stored, how long we keep it, and how you can see, download, or delete it.

The short version:

1. Who we are

Inadle is the "controller" (UK and EU terms) or "business" (US terms) responsible for your information.

2. Who can use Daysake, and what it does

You can create a Daysake account if you are 18 or older, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher, and you are either a parent or legal guardian of the child, or a family member a parent or guardian has invited to keep the notebook with them. Our Terms of Use say the same.

Daysake lets you:

Daysake does not:

3. Information we collect and why

You give us most of this information directly. Information about your child is always entered by an adult in the family, not by the child.

Crash reports (what error happened and where in the app's code, the names of the last screens visited and the server addresses called (with IDs removed) and their results, device model and state such as memory and screen size, operating system and app version, and language and time zone; we have turned off IP address storage in our crash reporting, so no location is derived from it)To find and fix crashes and errorsWhen an error happens

We may count how many pages are saved on each day as plain numbers that do not identify anyone. We do not read the content of pages to do this.

Crash reports in more detail

Before a crash report leaves your phone, the app is built to hide page text, answers, your child's name or nickname, what your child calls you, people's names and email addresses, values in quotes, and runs of ordinary words that read like sentences, in any language. Very short phrases may not be hidden. It keeps the parts of an error that look like code. Crash reports do not include your account ID or family ID, and our Sentry project is set not to store IP addresses. Screen recording, screenshots, and performance tracking are turned off. On its own, a crash report is hard to link to a person, but because it could be linked when combined with other information, we treat it as personal information.

Push notifications in more detail

Notifications contain only what your child calls the person who wrote (for example, "Mom"), a fixed sentence such as "added a new page", or the text of this week's question. In question reminders, your child's name is replaced with "your child". Notifications never include page text.

4. Choices you make in the app

When you sign up, you confirm three things: that you are the child's parent or guardian (or were invited by one), that you agree to this policy and the Terms of Use, and that Daysake may store what you write. We keep each consent separately. We do not ask for broad consent up front. When a feature needs more information, the app asks the first time you use it.

Photos. We ask for permission the first time you open your photo library from Daysake.

Product analytics (off by default). We collect product analytics only if you turn it on, either with the unticked box on the sign-up screen or later in Settings › How we look after your pages › Usage stats.

Notifications. Notifications about pages and notes from others in your family start when you allow phone notifications while setting up a shared notebook. You can turn each kind off in Settings › Notifications. Question reminders are sent only if you turn them on, and you can turn them off in the same place. If you do not allow notifications, you still see what's new when you open the app.

We will not use any future feature (such as voice, AI summaries, long-term storage plans, or payments) under the consent you gave at sign-up. If we add one, we will explain what it collects, why, for how long, and how to stop, and ask you first where required.

Inviting someone to write, and accepting an invite, is recorded as its own consent.

5. Legal bases (UK, EEA, and similar laws)

If UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies to you, we rely on:

Pages you write may sometimes mention your child's health (for example, "had a fever today"). We do not ask for health information and we do not analyze pages for it. We store it only as part of your private notebook, at your direction. See also our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy: https://daysake.com/en/consumer-health-data/

6. Service providers and where your data is stored

We use the service providers below to run Daysake. They process information only on our instructions and only to provide their service.

Google LLC (Gmail)Our inbox: receives the emails Cloudflare forwards, so we can answer youEmails you send usUnited States and Google's servers worldwide

Sign in with Apple and Google. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive only what we need to sign you in. From Apple, we receive an account ID and an email address (or a relay address if you choose "Hide My Email"). From Google, we receive an account ID and an email address. Google also sends your name and profile photo address; these stay in the sign-in record, but the app does not use or show them. If you use Kakao sign-in (offered for sign-up when the app is set to Korean), from Kakao we receive a member number and, if you agree on Kakao's screen, your Kakao account email. We never send your child's name, pages, or photos to Apple, Google, or Kakao.

We do not otherwise disclose your personal information to anyone, except when the law requires it, when you clearly ask us to, or to the service providers above.

7. International transfers

Daysake is run from the Republic of Korea. Your information is stored in Japan (Supabase; account emails are sent through Resend's Tokyo region) and Germany (Sentry crash reports), and some of it is handled in the United States (Expo, and support access by Resend, Sentry and Supabase). This means your information may be processed outside the country where you live, including in countries whose privacy laws differ from yours.

You can ask us at [email protected] for more detail about these safeguards.

8. How long we keep information

InformationHow long
Your account, family notebook, child details, and pagesUntil you delete them or your account, or until we close Daysake after the advance notice described in Section 10 of the Terms of Use
A page you deleteGone from the notebook at once. Its photo copies are removed from storage at once, and the page itself, with its notes, edits, and change history, is deleted for good within 30 days
PhotosAs long as the page they belong to. We do not keep photos apart from their page. Question answers, the words you used to ask, and change history are kept and deleted with their page
"Just me" pagesDeleted, with their photos, when the person who wrote them deletes their account. If that person only leaves the notebook, the pages stay but remain hidden from everyone else
Consent recordsDeleted together with your account
Product analytics eventsDeleted automatically once they are 6 months old
Crash reports30 days from collection
Server and website request logsA short period set by our hosting providers (Section 3)
Security and activity logs, including the record that an account was deleted (a random account ID, the date, and the result; never your child's details, pages, or photos)1 year, then deleted automatically
Push tokensDeleted when you sign out or delete your account. If a token stops working (for example, the app was uninstalled), we delete it the next time a notification to it fails
Question reminder settings and send historyDeleted with your account
Copies in our hosting provider's automatic backupsOverwritten within 7 days

9. Deleting your information

Delete a page. Open the page, open its menu (⋯), and tap Delete. The page disappears from the notebook and from your downloads at once. Any photo, thumbnail, and print copy are removed from storage at the same time, and the page itself is deleted for good within 30 days. If the person who looks after the family notebook deletes a child's notebook, we remove all of that child's photos first and then delete the notebook and its pages.

Leave a shared notebook. Settings › Leave this notebook. You can no longer see the notebook, and everything you wrote stays in it for the others. Your "Just me" pages stay hidden from everyone.

Delete your account in the app. Go to Settings › Delete my account. This deletes your account right away.

Delete your account without the app. If you cannot sign in or no longer have the app, use https://daysake.com/en/delete-account/ or email [email protected] from the email address on your account. To make sure the request comes from the account holder, we send a short code to that email address and ask you to send it back. We do not ask for ID documents. If you used Apple's "Hide My Email", tell us the relay address and we send the code there. We reply within 7 business days, and once the code is confirmed we delete the account as described above.

Crash reports are not linked to your account, so we cannot find and delete them one by one. They are deleted automatically after 30 days. Reports not yet sent stay on your phone and are removed if you uninstall the app.

Analytics on an uninstalled phone are not linked to your account, so they are deleted automatically once they are 6 months old.

10. Downloading your information

You can download your family's notebook for free at any time in Settings › Download everything.

11. Children's privacy

Daysake is meant for adults: parents and legal guardians, and the family members they invite. It is not directed to children.

12. No ads. No sale or sharing of personal information

13. Consumer health data (Washington, Nevada, and similar laws)

Daysake does not ask for health information, and it does not diagnose or assess children. But you might write something like "had a fever" or "went to the doctor." Under some US state laws, such as the Washington My Health My Data Act, that could count as consumer health data. We collect it only because you chose to write it, use it only to keep and show your private notebook, never sell it, and share it only with the service providers in Section 6. You can see, download, and delete it at any time.

Our separate Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy explains this in full: https://daysake.com/en/consumer-health-data/

14. Your rights

Everyone can, at any time:

We reply within 7 business days and complete requests within the time the law requires. To confirm a request comes from you, we use the email code described in Section 9. If a request concerns information where guardian rights are unclear or disputed, we may restrict access, ask for more information, or pause the request while we check.

UK, EU, and EEA (including Ireland). You have the right to access, correct (rectify), and erase your information, to restrict or object to our processing (including processing based on legitimate interests), to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You can complain to a data protection authority. In the UK, that is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). In Ireland, it is the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie). In other EU countries, it is your local authority. We would appreciate the chance to help first at [email protected].

California and other US states. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; to access and get a copy of it; to correct it; to delete it; and to opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising (we do none of these). We will not treat you differently for using these rights. You can use an authorized agent; we may ask the agent for proof of permission and ask you to confirm the request with the email code. If we deny a request, you can appeal by replying to our answer or emailing [email protected] with "Appeal" in the subject.

Australia. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. You can ask to access or correct your information. If you are not satisfied with how we handle a complaint, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

Canada. You can ask to access and correct your information and withdraw consent, as provided by PIPEDA and provincial laws. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).

New Zealand. You can ask to access and correct your information under the Privacy Act 2020, and complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).

Singapore. You can ask to access and correct your information and withdraw consent under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012, and contact the Personal Data Protection Commission (pdpc.gov.sg).

15. How we protect information

Every child and page is tied to a family notebook ID. Database access rules let a person see only the family notebooks they actively belong to. People join with an invite link or code and their own account, never by sharing a password.

An invite code works for 2 weeks and for one person. Anyone holding the code sees the name of the person who sent it. After signing in, and before joining, they also see the children's names (up to two), the number of pages, and how many people write in the notebook. Send the link only to the person you mean to invite.

Our staff access your family's information only when it is needed to fix a problem you report or we detect, to handle a request you make, or when the law requires it. Data is encrypted in transit, and our hosting provider encrypts stored data at rest. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit what we collect so there is less to protect.

16. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will tell you in the app or by another reasonable means before the change takes effect, and we will update the version and date at the top. If a change needs your consent, we will ask for it.

This policy is published in English and Korean, and both describe the same practices. If the two versions ever differ, the version in the language you use the app in applies.
